I’ll admit it: Las Vegas was never the destination I used to picture when I thought about a romantic getaway. Europe? Absolutely. A beach somewhere? Sign me up. Vegas always felt more like a place you’d go with a big group of friends. But after hearing so many people rave about it over the years, my husband and I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. Once we committed, we basically said, “If we’re going to do Vegas, we’re going to do it right.”

I spent way more time researching a trip here than I’d like to admit, and I genuinely think it paid off.
The thing that surprised me most? There is SO much more to Las Vegas than gambling. Between incredible restaurants, rooftop bars, world-class shows in Las Vegas, scenic day trips, luxury pools, and hidden cocktail bars, we barely even touched a casino the entire weekend and still left wishing we’d had another day. One of the biggest misconceptions about Las Vegas is that you have to love gambling to enjoy it. Trust me, you don’t. Before our trip, I pictured casinos, bachelor parties, and lots of late nights. While all of that definitely exists, it’s only one small part of what Vegas has become. We found ourselves spending way more time eating incredible food, exploring the different resorts, relaxing by the pool, and finding fun cocktail bars than we ever did standing in a casino.
Is Las Vegas Fun for Couples?
Absolutely. In fact, Vegas surprised me more than almost any other destination I’ve visited and I’d happily add it to my list of the best places for couples to travel. I genuinely did not think it would be “for us” prior to visiting. We’re not huge gamblers (outside of throwing a few dollars into the slot machines here and there), so I genuinly wondered if we’d eventually run out of things to do. We never even came close.

It might sound obvious, but simply walking the Las Vegas Strip ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. Every resort has its own personality, so it never really feels like you’re just walking from point A to point B. We logged way more steps than expected (comfortable shoes are a must!), but wandering it without much of a plan on our first day was truly our favorite.

This is one of the most iconic (and free!) things to do in Las Vegas. I know it sounds touristy, but trust me, the Bellagio Fountain is absolutely worth it. In fact, we ended up watching them several times throughout our trip. The fountains perform every 15–30 minutes throughout the afternoon and evening, choreographed to music and lights.
It gets crowded, especially at night, so if you want a spot along the railing, try to arrive about 10 minutes early. That said, there really isn’t a bad view. We watched from the sidewalk, the pedestrian bridge, and even during dinner. My personal favorite view was sitting on the patio at Mon Ami Gabi with lunch and a front-row seat to the fountains. If you’re celebrating something special, I’d recommend making a reservation there.

If you’re only planning to spend time on the Strip, do yourself a favor and carve out one evening for Fremont Street. It has a completely different (more vintage Vegas) vibe. It’s louder, a little grittier, a little weirder, but that’s exactly what makes it fun to be completely honest.
Under the massive Viva Vision canopy you’ll find live music, street performers, and an energy that’s completely different from anywhere else in Vegas.
If you’re staying on the Strip, it’s an easy Uber ride and definitely worth pairing with a few nearby stops. We visited the Mob Museum beforehand (which ended up being much more interesting than I expected) before grabbing dinner at Pizza Rock. It made for one of our favorite evenings of the trip.

If you’re looking for a break from the Vegas heat (trust me, if you’re visiting in the summer, you will be), the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite free stops on the Strip. It’s just inside the Bellagio and somehow feels like a completely different world compared to the casino floor outside.
The Bellagio Conservatory is completely transformed five times a year with elaborate seasonal displays, so whether you visit in the spring, fall, or around the holidays, there’s a good chance you’ll see something entirely different. Even if flowers aren’t normally your thing, I’d still make time for this. It’s less of a quick photo stop and more of a place to slow down for a bit before jumping back into the excitement of the Strip.
One thing I’d do differently? Visit earlier in the morning or later in the evening. We stopped by in the middle of the afternoon, and it was for sure one of the busier spots in the hotel. It was still absolutely worth seeing, but I can imagine it’s even more enjoyable with a little more room to wander.

Even if shopping isn’t really your thing, I’d still make time to wander through the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Inspired by ancient Rome, it feels much more like a grand Vegas attraction than a traditional mall, with marble statues, grand fountains, a sky-painted ceiling, and architecture designed to make you feel like you’re strolling through an Italian piazza.
As someone who’s traveled to Italy several times, I actually caught myself doing a double take when we walked in. Obviously nothing replaces the real thing, but they did a surprisingly impressive job capturing that grand Roman feel. The shops are also home to the free Fall of Atlantis animatronic show, which is worth catching if you’re already exploring. When we visited in August, this became one of our favorite places to escape the afternoon heat, especially since we were staying at Ceasars Palace (and a good spot for my husband to explore while I took forever getting ready each night).
If you’re looking to turn it into a casual date, make sure to stop by Café Lola. We went for brunch one morning and loved it so much that we came back later in the trip just for coffee from the walk-up window.

Snap a Photo at the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” Sign
It might be touristy, but I still think a trip to Vegas deserves a stop at the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. It’s one of those photos you’ll look back on years later and immediately remember the trip.
If getting a photo without a long wait in line is important to you, I’d highly recommend going early. We arrived around 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday (one perk of coming from the East Coast!), and it worked out perfectly. By about 7:00, the tour buses started rolling in, and the line quickly got much longer. It was one of those moments where waking up early paid off, and it rarely doesn’t. There’s a small parking lot right next to the sign, but it fills up fast later in the morning. Bring a tripod if you have one, or just ask another couple nearby to snap your photo (everyone seemed more than happy to return the favor!)

Take A Gondola Ride at The Venetian
One of the most romantic things to do in Las Vegas is taking a gondola ride through the canals at The Venetian. Inspired by the real city of Venice, Italy, the resort recreates its famous waterways with indoor and outdoor canals, charming bridges, and gondoliers who serenade you along the way. Is it a little cheesy? Sure. But it’s also one of those classic Vegas experiences that’s hard not to smile through.
One thing we noticed is that the lines often look much longer than they are because so many people stop to watch the gondolas go by. Don’t let that scare you away. When we visited in August, the outdoor canal was closed because of the extreme heat, so all of the rides were indoors. It was definitely busier, but still worth doing if it’s your first trip. Afterward, we walked over to Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer for one of their famous over-the-top milkshakes. It was the perfect sweet treat to end the experience.

The Eiffel Tower Restaurant and Cheri overlook the Bellagio Fountains, while Top of the World slowly rotates 800 feet above the city for a completely different perspective. If you’re hoping for one of those classic Vegas date nights, you really can’t go wrong with either.
We ended up booking balcony seating at Caramella overlooking the Bellagio Fountains and it was one of our favorite dinners of the trip! We had front-row seats to multiple fountain shows throughout the evening, and it felt a little more relaxed than some of the city’s formal fine-dining spots. No matter where you decide, I’d recommend making your reservation around sunset if possible.

Between all the walking, late nights, and nonstop energy, Vegas is surprisingly the perfect place to chill out for a couple of hours (trust me, you’ll need to). My husband and I have done many couples massages before, and it’s usually one of my favorite ways to build a little relaxation into a vacation.
Resorts like Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace and The Spa at Vdara are known for their luxurious couples treatments, but the experience goes far beyond the massage itself. Many spas include access to steam rooms, soaking pools, and relaxation lounges, making it easy to spend half a day unwinding together.
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, several Vegas spas also offer day passes, including ARIA Spa, so you can enjoy many of the same amenities without booking a treatment.

Crazy Things To Do In Las Vegas for Couples
SkyJump at The STRAT
If your idea of a great date involves a little adrenaline, SkyJump at The STRAT is one of the craziest things you can do together in Las Vegas. It’s a controlled free fall from 829 feet above the Strip and currently holds the Guinness World Record as the highest commercial decelerator descent.
You’ll be fully harnessed with instructors guiding you every step of the way, but don’t let that fool you, stepping off the edge is still a serious adrenaline rush. Just before you jump, you’ll have incredible views overlooking the entire Las Vegas Valley, which somehow makes the experience even more exciting. Definitely not for everyone (jury’s still out on if I’m in that category or not) but if you’re the kind of couple that loves checking adventurous experiences off your bucket list, this is one you’ll be talking about long after your trip.

This iconic roller coaster winds its way around the hotel’s replica Manhattan skyline, reaching speeds of nearly 70 mph while twisting, diving, and looping above the Strip. I’d recommend riding after dark if you can. Flying past the glowing Las Vegas skyline makes the experience even better, and it’s one of the coolest ways to see the city from a completely different perspective.

If you’re looking for a true bucket-list experience, it’s hard to top a nighttime helicopter flight over Las Vegas. Seeing the Strip from above gives you a perspective you simply can’t get from the ground.
Most tours depart from a private terminal just a few minutes from the Strip and last about 10–15 minutes. It may sound short, but the views are nonstop from takeoff to landing, making every minute count. It’s definitely a splurge, but if you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or another special occasion, I can’t think of many date nights that would be more memorable.

How could I put together a list of things to do in Las Vegas for couples without mentioning this one? Whether you’re actually planning to tie the knot or just want to renew your vows for fun, getting married at one of Vegas’ iconic wedding chapels is about as classic as it gets (and yes, you can totally have Elvis officiate if that’s your thing!)
Las Vegas may be famous for spontaneous weddings, but they’re not all rushed or over-the-top. Many of the city’s most famous chapels offer surprisingly beautiful ceremonies alongside the fun themes they’re known for. If you’re looking for that classic Vegas experience, A Little White Wedding Chapel and Graceland Wedding Chapel are two of the most recognizable. I didn’t fully understand before actually visiting that pool days in Vegas are practically an attraction of their own. Almost every major resort has its own pool complex complete with bars, cabanas, daybeds, and plenty of spots to spend an entire afternoon soaking up the sunshine (or escaping it in the shade!).
We spent one of our afternoons relaxing at Caesars Palace, which has multiple pools and swim-up bars spread throughout the property. There’s just something fun about ordering a cocktail, finding a lounge chair, and slowing down for a few hours before getting ready for dinner and a night out. If you’re visiting during the warmer months, I’d 100% recommend planning at least one pool day into your itinerary.

One of my husband’s main requests while planning our Vegas trip? Finding Secret Pizza (aka the pizza speakeasy) inside the Cosmopolitan and it really lived up to the hype as a late-night snack.
This unmarked pizza counter has become a bit of a Vegas legend. There aren’t any flashy signs pointing you there, which somehow makes finally finding it even more fun. Once you do, you’ll be rewarded with classic New York style pizza that’s perfect for a quick lunch, late-night bite, or post-show snack. We stopped by after a night out, and it ended up being the perfect way to wind things down together.

If you’re only planning to see one, I’d personally lean toward a Cirque production. Shows like O, KA, Mystère, and Mad Apple have become Vegas classics for a reason, combining incredible acrobatics, storytelling, and production value you really can’t find anywhere else. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up a little and enjoy a memorable date night together.

Explore the LINQ Promenade & Ride the High Roller
The LINQ Promenade ended up being one of our favorite spots to just walk around during our trip. Filled with restaurants, bars, shops, and plenty of outdoor seating, it’s the perfect place to grab a drink, do a little people-watching, and soak up the Vegas energy without stepping foot inside a casino.
It’s also home to the High Roller, the tallest observation wheel in North America and one of the best places to take in panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip. I’d definitely recommend riding it after sunset when the city lights begin to glow. The ride itself lasts about 30 minutes and makes for an easy addition before dinner or as a relaxing way to end the evening.

Even if you don’t step inside, seeing the Sphere is worth adding to your itinerary. We stopped by to check it out when the Backstreet Boys were in town for awhile and it was so cool to see it in person.

Whether you’re interested in organized crime history at the Mob Museum, vintage neon signs at the Neon Museum, or something a little more niche like the Atomic Museum or Punk Rock Museum, there’s a museum for just about every interest.
If I had to recommend just one, I’d pick the Mob Museum! We absolutely loved this one because it’s interactive, surprisingly well done, and offers a fascinating look at how Las Vegas became the city it is today (in more ways than just the mob!) We also stopped at the speakeasy with some of the best cocktails in the city.

The dramatic red sandstone cliffs, scenic overlooks, and hiking trails make it feel like you’re in a completely different world. If you have a rental car and an extra half day, I’d recommend making the drive. It’s a great way to balance all the excitement of the Strip with a little fresh air and some incredible desert scenery.

We stopped here first after landing and picking up our rental car since we had some time before hotel check-in, and it worked out perfectly. It was such a fun way to kick off our trip and a nice change of scenery before diving into all the Vegas excitement. If you can, visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon when it’s cooler and the lighting is best for photos.

Like I said before, Las Vegas completely surprised me. What I expected to be a fun weekend getaway ended up becoming one of my favorite couples trips we’ve taken. Between the incredible food, iconic attractions, relaxing pool days, and unforgettable date nights, there’s so much more to Vegas than casinos and gambling.
