Anyone who knows me knows that fall is my absolute favorite time of year. Even people who don’t know me that well are probably aware, I make it very obvious. One of my favorite fall activities is checking out local spots like apple orchards and pumpkin patches! And if you live in the Indy area like me, then you’re in luck because there are plenty of great options around for everything from apple picking to cozy pumpkin patches.

Over the years, I have traveled all around to visit different farms, orchards, and pumpkin patches, and I’ve compiled the ultimate guide so you can figure out which one to visit this fall season. I’ve included everything you need to know, like if they offer u-pick apples, a pumpkin patch, hayrides, or corn mazes, plus their current hours and special activities. Whether you’re looking for where to travel to in the fall, somewhere to take the whole family, looking to plan a fall date, or just hoping to enjoy some Central Indiana fall festivities, there is definitely an option for you here.

What Are the Best Apple Orchards and Pumpkin Patches in Indianapolis?

Indiana has so many charming farms to choose from, but some really stand out as fall favorites. In this guide, I’ve highlighted the best apple orchards and pumpkin patches in Indiana, especially those just a short drive from Indianapolis. From small family-owned orchards to larger farms with full fall festivals, you’ll find a wide range of experiences to fit your perfect autumn day.

Here’s a quick look at where every orchard and patch is:

Have a specific activity in mind? Here’s what you can expect from each orchard and patch:

• Best for U-Pick Apples: Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill in Sheridan, Indiana. With 37 varieties of u-pick apples, this is one of my favorite spots when apple picking is the main event.
• Best for Kids: Piney Acres Farm in Fortville, Indiana. The huge Kids Zone, corn mazes, hayrides, pumpkin patch, and other activities make it easy to spend most of the day here.
• Best Dog-Friendly: Pleasant View Orchard in Fairland, Indiana. As long as they stay on a leash, they can tag along for apple and pumpkin picking, weekend tractor rides, and heading over to the snack stand!
• Closest to Downtown Indianapolis: Waterman’s Family Farm is located about 15-20 minutes from Downtown Indianapolis, making it an easy option when you want pumpkins, hayrides, and fall activities without driving too far outside the city.
• Best for Date: Spencer Farm in Noblesville, Indiana. You can pick out pumpkins, grab something sweet from the farm store, and then stop by the winery to catch some live music. Laid back, delicious, and the best way to spend a fall afternoon.

Stuckey Farm Orchard & Cider Mill

Sheridan, IN

Stuckey Farm is located north of Indy in Sheridan. It is one of my favorite apple orchards near Indianapolis! It is a working orchard and cider mill with 37 varieties of u-pick apples, and we couldn’t get over all of the options! We ended up picking apples and also shopping in their store, and they have tons of varieties of apples. There were also plenty of pre-picked pumpkins available there. We were there on a weekday so we mainly did apple picking and shopping, but their weekend Harvest Festival includes more of the activities listed below.

Piney Acres Farm

Fortville, IN

Piney Acres is a 73 acre farm located in Fortville, Indiana, which is about 40 min northeast of downtown Indy. Aside from the pumpkin patch and corn mazes, they have a ton of other activities for families and children! The Kids Zone includes a jump pad, gem mining, spider climb net, air cannon, duck races, cow barrel train ride, rope maze, giant chess board and more. I couldn’t get over all of the activities they have here. It’s a great place to pick the perfect pumpkin!

Beasley’s Orchard

Danville, IN

Beasley’s Orchard in Danville is definitely the place to go if you are wanting to experience a little bit of everything this fall season! We were overwhelmed with everything they had to offer from the moment we arrived. The apple cider donuts and slushies from the Cider Bar inside the shop were my favorite! If you are going on the weekend I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online prior. We were able to skip the line to get in. There are tons of activities including a corn maze, hayride, apple picking, pumpkins and more. It’s one of that many fun things to do in Indianapolis once fall comes around.

Spencer Farm

Noblesville, IN

Spencer Berry Farm is located in Noblesville and it is the perfect spot to pick up pumpkins and mums! We were so impressed with their pumpkin patches because they were some of the biggest ones I’ve been to. They offer a hayride to the patch on the weekends, but you are also able to drive and park nearby as well. Definitely stop inside the store for some ice cream or desserts, and they even have their own winery as well! Or if you’re craving a homemade Apple Cider Aperol Spritz, you can pick up some of their locally made apple cider by the gallon or half-gallon and take it home for later. Needless to say, it’s one of my favorite pumpkin patches near Indianapolis.

Tuttle Orchards is located in Greenfield, IN, and it is definitely one of my favorite spots that I have been going to for years! They have u-pick apples and pumpkins along with a farm store where you can get apple cider slushies, caramel apples, donuts, and more. They also have a ton of additional activities for kids in the Tractor Town area.

Dull’s Tree Farm & Pumpkin Patch

Thorntown, IN

Dull’s Tree Farm has it all! From pumpkin picking to activities for kids, there is no shortage of fun fall festivities here. This is definitely a spot that families could spend an entire day at. They have a giant slide, food and drink options at their grill, apple cider slushies, a hayride, farm animals, corn maze, and more. I loved their Super Slushie (apple cider slushie, whipped cream, caramel, and an apple cider donut) so much that I ended up getting two! (And I may or may not have come home just to make a coffee with homemade pumpkin spice creamer… I shamelessly love anything fall flavored.) We will definitely be heading back there around the holidays when the tree farm is open for the season.

Jacob’s Family Orchard

New Castle, IN

Jacob’s Family Orchard is located in New Castle, IN, making it the furthest spot from Indianapolis on this list. We recently made the trip though and it was definitely worth it! They have apples, pumpkins, apple cinnamon donuts, and tons of activities for kids. I do want to note that they are not a u-pick orchard. My favorite part was that they are dog-friendly, so we were able to bring Luke and Leia with us! They made friends with the orchard dog, Blade.

Hogan Farms Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze

Hogan Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is located in Brownsburg, and it is such a great spot for picking your own pumpkins! We stopped here to pick up some pumpkins, and they have everything you need readily available at the entrance to their pumpkin patch. There are hayrides, a corn maze, petting zoo, a pumpkin chess board, and a ton of other fun activities for kids. They also offer a farmers market on the weekends, and food trucks on Saturdays/Sundays in October.

Waterman’s Family Farm

If you prefer not to venture too far from downtown, then Waterman’s Family Farm is perfect for you! They have pumpkins, hayrides, a straw mountain, pumpkin bowling, and a ton of other activities for the family. We stopped into their market recently and couldn’t believe all the produce, homemade sauces, butters, and salsas they had. I highly recommend picking up a jar of their Habanero Honey Mustard!

The Apple Store at Conner Prairie

Fishers, IN

While it’s not technically a pumpkin patch or full blown orchard, The Apple Store at Conner Prairie in Fishers is a great spot to visit in the fall! We stopped by for a caramel apple, and theirs are always the best. They also have chocolate dipped apples, apple fritters, pumpkin donuts, cider slushies, apple butter and more available to purchase. If you’re spending some time in the area, don’t miss my full guide on the Fishers Event Center! It’s definitely worth taking a trip to.

Russell Farms Pumpkin Patch

Noblesville, IN

Russell Farms Pumpkin Patch in Noblesville is a great option if you’re looking for a classic fall farm experience with plenty to do. Along with picking your own pumpkin, they have hayrides, two corn mazes, a petting zoo, mini golf, play areas, and tons of kid-friendly activities for kids. There’s also a country store where you can pick up fall treats, clothing, candles, decorations, and already-picked pumpkins if you don’t want to head out to the patch. With that said, I’d definitely include it in your things to do in Noblesville itinerary when you’re in the area!

Harvest Tyme Family Farm

Lowell, IN

Harvest Time Family Farm is a little farther from Indy, about two and a half hours away in Lowell, but there’s so much to do that you could easily make a full day out of it. Their Fall Festival includes a pumpkin patch, corn mazes, hayrides, a petty zoo, amusement rides, and plenty of activities for kids. They also have their Pumpkin Glow at night with tons of lights and displays, which is such a fun way to keep the fall festivities going after dark!

Pleasant View Orchard

Pleasant View Orchard in Fairland is a great spot if apple picking is at the top of your fall bucket list! The orchard has more than 20 varieties of apples, plus a pumpkin patch, weekend wagon rides, and a playground for kids. Definitely save room for something from the concession stand, too, because they have things like apple cider slushies, caramel apples, warm apple cobbler, fried biscuits with apple butter, and plenty of yummy fall treats! You may even be able to catch live music performances, animal shows, and wine tastings on select days.

Anderson Orchard

Anderson Orchard in Mooresville is another great option if you want to fit both apple and pumpkin picking into the same fall day. you can pick your own apples and other seasonal produce (like raspberries depending on when you go!), swing by the pumpkin patch, and grab apple cider, caramel apples, fried apple pies, and other treats from the concession stand. They also host an Apple Festival & Craft Fair each fall with vendors, food, and activities for kids.

Lark Ranch

Lark Ranch in Greenfield is definitely one of the more activity-packed pumpkin patches near Indianapolis. Along with picking pumpkins and making your way through the corn maze, you can ride their mile-long, open-air train, visit the farm animals, and check out tons of rides and activities for kids. (Think: Large jumping pillows and giant slides.) They also have plenty of fall treats, including fresh apple cider donuts and apple cider slushies!

Smith Family Farms in Pendleton is another fun spot for a classic pumpkin patch day. Their October weekends include pick-your-own pumpkins, hayrides, a corn maze, petting zoo, playground, concessions, and live music. You can grab a caramel apple or something to eat while you’re there and make an afternoon out of exploring the farm.
