15 Best Restaurants in Positano

Positano was the top travel destination for me for years. I’m not exaggerating when I say I had this place saved all over my travel inspiration Pinterest boards long before I ever booked the trip, or even considered actually booking the trip. The colorful cliffside buildings, beach clubs, lemon everything and dreamy views of the Amalfi Coast made it one of those places I romanticized for so long that I honestly wondered if it could ever live up to the version I had built up in my head. Somehow, it absolutely did.

From the second we arrived, I was completely obsessed with everything about it. I loved wandering through the little alleyways filled with local ceramics and linen shops, stopping for lemon sorbet (served in a frozen lemon!) in the middle of the afternoon, and sitting at restaurants tucked into the cliffs overlooking the sea thinking “okay this really is as beautiful as everyone says it is.”

Honestly, some of my favorite moments from our entire huge Italy trip happened here. Positano just has this atmosphere that feels so special and cinematic. Even something simple like walking to dinner each night felt like an experience because every corner somehow looked like a postcard.

Where To Eat In Positano Italy

Of course, the food ended up being a huge part of my Positano experience! One of my biggest priorities while planning this trip was finding restaurants with incredible views and atmosphere, so we planned a lot of our itinerary around where we wanted to eat. I did months and months of research before arriving to ensure we’d experience a nice mix of cliffside restaurants, waterfront beach clubs, casual cafés and sunset cocktail spots.

Whether you’re visiting Positano for a quick afternoon, staying a few nights, or planning your own dream Amalfi Coast trip, this guide includes all the restaurants, cafés, and bars that stood out most to me in Positano.

Important note: I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time for the more popular sit-down restaurants if you are able to. I visited in mid-May (which is considered the shoulder season) and made quite a few of ours about 3-4 weeks out. This is not required everywhere, but I would at least recommend arriving early as most places fill up quickly.

17 Best Restaurants in Positano

Rada Beach Bistrot

Lunch on the beach in Positano was something I absolutely had on my must-do list before the trip, and Rada Beach Restaurant ended up being exactly the kind of experience I was hoping for. Located directly on the beach, Rada has that perfect relaxed-but-still-upscale Positano atmosphere that just makes you want to sit there for hours. It almost felt like its own little beach club with the views of the colorful cliffside buildings rising up behind the water.

We made reservations before our trip specifically for lunch and requested outdoor seating with a view, which I’d definitely recommend doing if you can. Sitting there with the beach right in front of us, spritzes on the table, and fresh seafood while watching people come and go along the shore honestly felt like one of those “I can’t believe we’re actually here” moments. It’s definitely one of the more popular restaurants in Positano, so reservations are very worth it, especially if you want one of the front outdoor tables.

What to Try:

  • Limoncello Spritz: A classic Amalfi Coast drink to sip on by the water.
  • Ham and Melon Appetizer: Very popular Italian appetizer.

Why Go?

  • Beachfront Dining: Enjoy a meal with spectacular views of the sea.
  • Fresh Seafood: Known for its high-quality seafood dishes.

Ristorante Bruno Positano

One of our favorite spots we ate at throughout our entire trip was at Ristorante Bruno! This well-regarded eatery known for its friendly service and traditional Italian fare. It’s a great spot for enjoying authentic Positanese cuisine. If the food doesn’t convince you, it is hard to compete with the view. My number one tip would be to make a reservation in advance and request outdoor seating with a view to get the full experience.

What to Try:

  • Risotto ai Frutti di Mare: Creamy risotto with a variety of fresh seafood.
  • Bruschetta al Pomodoro: Toasted bread topped with ripe tomatoes, basil, and olive oil.

Franco’s Bar

While not necessarily a restaurant, Franco’s Bar gets an honorable mention as the PERFECT spot to grab pre-dinner drinks with a captivating view. We each had a few cocktails with some snacks and loved each one. I recommend arriving early (like a little prior to opening) to secure one of the best tables along the glass balcony if you want the best possible view.

When we went in mid-May the line to enter the bar began forming about 30 minutes before opening. We got there around then and were the first in line, and a long line began forming after us almost immediately. Getting there early is not a requirement if you don’t care about having a front-row table or don’t mind a wait, and it is a great spot to grab a drink either way!

What to Try:

  • Franco’s Spritz: A refreshing twist on the classic spritz, made with premium ingredients.
  • Olive and Nut Mix: A delightful accompaniment to your drinks.

Why Go?

  • Stunning Views: Enjoy panoramic views of Positano and the coastline.
  • Elegant Atmosphere: Perfect for a sophisticated evening out.
