The 2nd annual Carmel Christkindlmarkt officially opens on Saturday, Nov. 17. After a successful first year in 2017, the market is back and better than before with a variety of new vendors. I attended the Media Preview night to check out the new layout, food, drinks, vendors and ice skating.
“Christkindlmarkt” is the German term for a traditional Christmas market. They have been popular in cities such as Chicago, and now the tradition has made its way to Indiana.
Carmel’s Christkindlmarkt is located outside at Carmel City Center. The market will be open from Nov. 17-Dec. 23, with the following weekly schedule:
Mondays & Tuesdays: CLOSED
Wednesdays & Thursdays: 4-9pm
Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays: 12-9pm
There’s a variety of food and drink options this year, including mulled wine, punch, beer and ciders. They’ve also got a ton of German food and desserts. Additionally, there’s quite a few souvenir mugs available for purchase, and these will change each year so make sure to grab one!
Apart from food and drinks, there’s tons of other goodies including Xchocol’Art- a local gourmet chocolate shop based in Carmel.
Last but not least, there’s ICE SKATING of course!
