8th Day Distillery: First Impression

Earlier this week I attended my first Yelp Elite event, and it was DOG-FRIENDLY. I’m constantly on the hunt for places and events that I can take my energetic pomsky Leia to, so when I received the invite for Dogs at the Distillery I was ecstatic. The pups get to burn off some energy meeting new furry friends, and the puppy-parents get to drink, what more could one ask for?

8th Day Distillery hosted this private event in their brand new tasting room that just opened to the public in June. I took this event as an opportunity to check out the space. It was definitely a large enough building to host a variety of vendors including The Fetch Studio, Dapper in the City, Three Dogs Bakery, Bop Bakery, Soupremecy, LICK Ice Cream, and FACE Animal Clinic.

I also took this as an opportunity to check out the new tasting room’s summer cocktail menu. Even though they just opened in June, you may have seen a bottle of their Rum or Gin around because they’ve been on store shelves since 2016.

The current menu definitely favors quality over quantity, offering just a few solid options that include their two spirits. They have a mojito (rum, lime, mint simple syrup, soda water), a classic daiquiri (rum, lime, simple syrup), a G&T (gin, tonic syrup, soda water), and a Circle City Spritz (gin, strawberry shrub, lemon, soda water).

They were also serving a Mixed Berry Basil Gimlet on special for the evening, which was absolutely delicious and perfect for summertime. I tried that and the mojito. To be honest I gladly would’ve sampled ALL of their drinks if I had the chance. Maybe next time!

There is quite a bit of construction going on around the building at the moment, but there is nearby parking available during their hours of operation. The tasting room itself is decorated in a very modern style, and it’s the type of place that would be great for a small group of friends to grab a drink. Bonus- it’s always dog-friendly inside & out.

I can’t wait for all of their new spirits that are barreled to launch- I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out to come try them all!
