Big Woods Hazel Dell

I was so excited to hear that Big Woods Restaurants was opening a new location in Noblesville! I’ve been a huge fan of all things Big Woods, Hard Truth Spirits, and Quaff On Brewing ever since our visit to Hard Truth Hills last fall. We seriously had the best time touring the distillery, sampling the beers and spirits, and eating at the Big Woods Restaurant. I’ve even made the drive to their Speedway location just for some to-go orders of their famous Nachos!

The new Big Woods is located on Hazel Dell and 146th street, and it officially opens up on February 17. I got the chance to stop in during their soft opening to check it out.

As always, we started out with drinks! They offer the Quaff On Brewing beers all on tap along with cocktails made up of the Hard Truth Spirits. Austin tried the Bourbon Busted Knuckle, which is a bourbon barrel-aged version of their popular Busted Knuckle brew.

I chose to go with one of their craft cocktails called the Smoked Brown County Old Fashioned. It was made up of rye whiskey, Hard Truth Cinnamon Vodka, Angostura and orange bitters, marshmallows, and smoke. This cocktail was DELICIOUS, and I’ll definitely be getting it again. I had never thought about mixing the Hard Truth Cinnamon Vodka with whiskey before, and it turned out so well.

As far as food goes, you really can’t go wrong. Big Woods offers a large menu full of unique, flavorful entrees, appetizers, and sides. I highly recommend getting an order of the nachos because they’re very popular for them. We each ordered some of the new menu items including the Maple Bourbon Chicken Sandwich, and the Thai Steak Tacos.

I made sure to try a bite (or two!) of Austin’s Maple Bourbon Chicken Sandwich and WOW was it tasty. I like to consider myself as a French fry connoisseur, and these ones definitely get 5 stars all around. The Thai Steak Tacos caught my eye on the menu because they sound so flavorful, and they definitely did not disappoint! These tacos will be my go-to for lunch or dinner. All the food came out hot and in a timely manner, which is awesome for it being the soft-opening!

Big Woods Hazel Dell officially opened on Monday, Feb. 17 and is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm. You can check out their full menu here: http://www.bigwoodsrestaurants.com/hazel-dell/

Cheers to the new location!

  1. We have a Big Woods in Franklin and it’s my favorite restaurant in town. Have you tried the wings? So good. Their pizza is also a good choice.
